A New Kind of Filmmaking: "Catfish"

i just lately saw the film that was commercialised heavily through the online like the film Paranormal Activity. Well, perhaps not the same marketing methods exactly, just similar, just that's beside the point. Catfish was discharged Sept. 19th in select theaters. It didn't seem to have as a good deal hubbub as Paranormal Activity, just I enjoyed it even as much.

The conflict between these two films? One and only was scripted and one was not (unless you're like others who question the genuineness of the film). In so many words, the filmmakers, Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, say that they began recording Nev Schulman when his life took an worrying turn. Spoilers ahead, just I'll try not to drop too many:

He was contacted by individual unexpected and began a relationship on this person. His filmmaker brother, Ariel, and friend, Henry, found it to be concerning and unusual, so they began filming it, and kept about going when matters got more interesting.

A few people call it a documentary, just it was marketed as a "reality thriller", and Ariel calls it a "fake documentary". The thing is, is that nobody really acknowledges what to actually call it, since it's a style of filmmaking that is never been released ahead. Documentaries tend to be there to make sure or inform. And so there's been Cloverfield and Paranormal Activity that look exactly like it, just these are completely fabricated posing as something real. Catfish, though, is a nonfictional prose piece that happens to have a real account element to it. You're engaged emotionally in as is way you would be as watching a even narrative film, unlike you would be on a documentary. This is something that is never really been captured ahead, well, not for a film that's been distributed to theaters.

So my call into question is, is this afresh sort of filmmaking? We already know the YouTube style films are in, just they aren't true at all. This one is. Are filmmakers gonna start having their cameras running 24/7 on their friends and family going for to capture something interesting even as Catfish has? It sure has inspired me commotion something like it!
